Hurricane Harvey victims are homeschool families too. Many of them have lost their books and curriculum, and we can help! Please consider donating your extra/unused curriculum and support to homeschool families to help them replace what was lost and get back on track with their home education.
Homeschool Curriculum Free for Shipping is a nationally recognized, 501(c)(3) organization helping over 15,000+ homeschool families provide curriculum and materials to other homeschool families in need across the U.S.
An overwhelming number of you have begun to send curriculum and school supplies to those who have lost everything in Houston and areas affected by Hurricane Harvey. We'd like to let you know that we are glad to accept any donations at Homeschool Curriculum Free for Shipping, and pass them along to the families who need them in the coming months.
Here is what we desperately need:
curriculum in NEW or LIKE NEW condition (current editions please)
NEW, unopened school supplies
More than anything, we need CASH DONATIONS - to help with shipping costs of mailing the donations to the victims. We currently have NO FUNDS for shipping costs. Please help!
USED book donations (as always) can be offered up in our Facebook group which makes it easy for anyone, anywhere, to donate at any time. Because we don't keep an inventory, we only accept and ship NEW or LIKE NEW donations from our headquarters.
The Plan:
Over the next month we will collect items and cash donations. You can mail your donations to Homeschool Curriculum Free for Shipping Headquarters, P.O. Box 783, Clemmons, NC 27012. Cash donations can be made directly to our Gofundme account here.
Once families are able to settle down and get back into the homeschooling routine, they may complete an online application form stating what they specifically need (the application form will be available on this site on September 15th, 2017). If we have the items, we will ship them to the families. If there is not enough funding to cover shipping costs, families *may* have to pay the shipping costs, but we will do everything we can to help, depending on how much cash donations are received. In the event of excess cash donations, we would love to be able to buy and order BRAND NEW curriculum from our partner curriculum publishers who offer us a discount for purchasing as well.
100% of all cash donations received by September 15, 2017 will go directly to Harvey victims. Your donations are tax deductible.
We are also in communication and working out a collaboration with local and national homeschool libraries and co-ops, please email us ASAP if you have NEW or LIKE NEW books you'd like to ship to families in need from your own location, as I am sure we will have more requests than we can fill. If you primarily distribute used materials, please check out our ISO boards in our Facebook group before contacting us, as we are very overwhelmed at this time, and our Facebook group makes it so much easier for the leadership to manage and oversee used materials.
